Metz, France

Published by caroline under Gtahotels.com

Last winter, I had a business meeting in Paris, France. I had already been to Paris many more times that I wanted to see a new place. One of my friend told about Metz which has a rich historical heritage. We had the meeting on Saturday and Sunday morning I set off to Metz by high speed train ( TGV).

It took appoximately 85 minutes to get the city. I really liked the train, it was comfortable. I took a taxi to the downtown. It was a rainy day in Metz and rather cold. When I got off the taxi, I was fascinated with the beautiful scenery. The charming atmosphere of the city was immediately noticed. I saw the L’Opéra-Theatre de Metz and walked on the Moyen Pont. I heard that there was the oldest cathedral of France – Metz Cathedral. I went to see it. It was near the L’Opéra-Theatre de Metz so I just walked. When I first saw the cathedral, I couldn’t believe my eyes! It was so huge and so beautiful. I don’t remember exactly but I guess it was built in 13th century. I viewed carefully the gothic figures on the walls – they were amazing! It was definitely a masterpiece. I couldn’t stop thinking about how it was built in those days. When I got inside, I chilled. I watched the high ceilings, old but charming furniture and enormous windows. I walked around it and viewed admiringly.

After I got out, I walked to the downtown to eat something and some shopping. The downtown of Metz was really beautiful and crowded. There were so many shops that I couldn’t decide where I would start J I had not so much time so I walked around fast. And after a delicious meal, I came back to Paris by TGV, met my colleagues and catch the plane to come back home!

If you would like to visit Metz yourself, have  a look at our super hotel offers

Great Wildlife to Rediscover

Published by caroline under Gtahotels.com

I couldn’t believe it when the guy on the other side of the telphone said that I won a holiday in Madagaskar for a week! It was one of those chance games and I didn’t think that I would win, but I did! I began the necessary preparations for the holiday immediately. I knew nothing about Madagaskar except that it was an island in the southern part of the world. I made a little research about it and found out that it was the fourth largest island in the world; mainly French, Malagasy language and some English were spoken there; and local people were mainlyChristian, although a small fraction was Islam and the others followed the traditional religion. That research was enough at that time. I thought about who could come with me. Andy came to my mind and I called him at once. He was also very excited. Thus we made our holiday plan and the necessary preparations plus reservations.

The hotel that we would stay was in Anjajavy. After a long long air travel of about 20 hours from New York, we finally arrived at Anjajavy. At the moment we stepped out of the plane, we understood that it would be worth it. We decided to go to our hotel and have a rest first. We rented a car, and so we didn’t have any difficulty in getting to our hotel, L’Hotel Anjajavy, which was on Anjajavy road. We liked our hotel very much; it was luxurious and comfortable.

The next day, we made a list of places where we wished to go. I must admit that the list was too long for a week, but there was so much that we wanted to see! So, we gave priority to those that we liked most. First, we went to Andasibe-Mantadia National Park, which was a great wildlife exploration. We saw some different animals that we hadn’t seen before. Lemurs and geckos were just two of them. Even more various animals were waiting for us in the Tsimbazaza Zoo! It was awesome to be there. I felt myself a child again, running from one animal to another. After exploring wildlife that much, we decided to see some historical buildings. We went to the Queens Palace that was burned out. It was very interesting to see and Andy tool lots of photos in front of the building. I think he was very curious about the fire.

Now it was time to do some shopping! With my special request of course, we went to the Analakely market. It was very colourful and there were so many things to buy. Poor Andy got bored, as he didn’t like markets, but  thank God he let me do my shopping

It was a great experience to be in Madagaskar. If I have the chance, I will certainly go there again. This time
I will induce Andy to make some shopping, too

My greatest trip to Rabat

Published by caroline under Gtahotels.com

My trip to Rabat is the greatest one I have ever made. I stayed at La Tour Hassan Meridien Hotel which is 15 km from the airport. It was a nice and clean hotel with friendly staff. My first sight to see was the Mausoleum of Mohammed V. That memorial was with just one word amazing. Inside was so ornamented that you feel yourself a small plain detail in it. I learned from my guide that many artists had worked there to make the memorial seem that gorgeous. My next stop in Rabat was the Hassan Tower which is 44 m. According to my guide; it would have been 80 m, had the earthquake in 1755 not destroyed it. It was worth seeing, especially the inside was wonderful.

After the Hassan Tower, I went to see the Andalucian Gardens. It was not just a garden, but also had a small  museum in it. After I sat in the garden and watched the flowers and trees for a while, I went to the museum. By the way, there were some nice ornamented antique doors which you could see outside the museum.

At the evening, I wanted to try some local food, and so went to eat outside. I went to the Restaurant des Amis which was a little small but cute restaurant that served many good local dishes. I ate one of the best meals of my life there. It was also quite cheap.

Next day, I went to the Royal Mosque which was just across the Royal Palace. Thus I had a chance to see both places. Royal Mosque was a very fine piece of Islamic architecture. I enjoyed my visit there very much.

There were a few other places that I saw, too. The ones above are the places I liked most. I think Morocco and Rabat have a lot to offer, but just need to be rediscovered.

A trip to Tunisia

Published by caroline under Gtahotels.com

In autumn, my family and I went to Tunisia for a short vacation. It took us a two-hour flight to the  Tunis-Carthage International Airport which is the most important airport in Tunisia. We stayed El Hana International Hotel which is only 15 minutes from the Carthage Airport. There were some beaches just 15 minutes away from the hotel. The hotel was good, clean and well-serviced but the decoration was a bit out of fashion.

In the morning, we went to ASMA in Tunis to do some shopping. We surprised to see that some shops were closed and learned on Fridays they were supposed to be closed. However, this couldn’t stop me and I bought some jewellery in the shape of Fatima’s hand. I heard that in Tunisia, Fatima’s hand meaned good luck.

We visited the Bardo Museum which dates back 13th century. It had the best mosaics that I’ve ever seen. We also visited the Great Mosque, and the Dar-al-Bey Palaca. The city was really full of history and we were fascinated by the charming atmosphere.

In Tunisia, we also enjoyed the sunny weather, it was much more hotter than Turkey in that season. I had a great time in there with my family. Both city and hotel were perfect, I higly recommend you to go Tunisia.

If you want to enjoy Tunisia have a look at our selection of hotels and resorts……

Kyrenia North Cyprus

Published by caroline under Gtahotels.com

kibris-august-2007-108.jpg

I think Kyrenia is the most beautiful place in Cyprus. After 3 hours on ferry, I and my boyfriend arrived at Kyrenia. We had booked our rooms in the Riverside Holiday Village Hotel in advance. It was a nice hotel to stay.

We liked it immediately. There were lots of places that we wanted to see, so we began sightseeing at once. We first went to the Shipwreck museum, because my boyfriend is very interested in museums. I like museums, too, but this museum was very different. It exhibited shipwrecks and it was very interesting to see that once giant and brand new ships became just garbage. We also saw the oldest ship in the world there. It is said to be about 2400 years old! We couldn’t believe our eyes when we saw it. After the museum, we decided to go to an open space to enjoy ourselves, so we went to the Kyrenia Harbour. It was marvelous to see it. When we climbed to the hill where the Kyrenia Castle was situated, we realized that the harbour could be seen from there, too. It was a very nice  scene and we had some romantic minutes while watching it, so the harbour has always been very special for us.

After climbing to the hill, we returned to our hotel to have some rest. I was sad to be going back to the hotel, but I made my poor boyfriend promise that we would go to a bar or cafe to enjoy ourselves at night. We thought about a suitable place. Because we valued the harbour, we wanted to go somewhere close to it. Cafe 34 just met our needs. It is so close to the harbour and it has romance in the air. We sat near a window and watched the peaceful harbour. It was raining outside. There was a soft music and in such a calm atmospehere guess what happened! My boyfriend offered me marriage! That was four years ago and we go to Kyrenia on our wedding anniversaries since.

Kyrenia is really a great choice for your holiday. Have a look at our super hotel deals

My trip to Munich

Published by caroline under Gtahotels.com

My trip to Munich has always been my favourite one. After an air travel of 7 hours and 45 minutes, I arrived at Franz Josef Strauss International Airport. I thought I would not be able to go sightseeing after so much time on air, but as soon as we landed, I changed my mind. Fortunately, I did some research about Munich before, and so I knew where and how to go. I first went to the Englischer Garten on the Giselastrasse. With its Japanese tea houses, a Greek style temple and the Chinese Tower, it had a cool environment. Landscape was really fascinating. I had a great time there.

My second destination was the Nympherburg Castle. There I understood why it was called Nympherburg. It is so beautiful a place that I think it can be a home only to the mythological Nymphs who are very very beautiful and irresistable. Well, not Nymphs but, according to what I heard, it was used as the David Camp by Bavarian Kings. Maybe the kings were very beautiful, who knows?

My next stop was the Frauenkirche about which I had heard a lot. It is a must to see the Frauenkirche if you are in Munich. Its domes are the symbol of Munich. I had no problem to reach there, because it was within the walking
distance from Marienplatz.

Going around all day long made me really hungry, so I tried to find a good restaurant to have dinner. I went to Zur Brez’n on the Leopoldstrasse as I was already in the vicinity. I was glad to have eaten there at the end of dinner. The meals were great! So delicious that I think I will never forget! Furthermore, the prices aren’t so high, just the average. Then I went direct to Brunnenhof Hotel where I stayed. I was happy to stay there, it was very clean and comfortable.

I was  also curious about Dachau, the concentration camp, so I went there next day. I took the bus numbered 724 from Marienplatz and went to Dachau. This camp was designed to punish people, which paved the way for the cruel Nazi camps according to my guide. I felt agony in the air there. He said that 32,000 prisoners died until 1945.

That is all about my Munich trip. I have never had so much fun again.

My Trip to Paris

Published by caroline under Gtahotels.com

I should like to thank Miray for sharing her trip to Paris with us;

Last winter, i had a trip to the city of love, Paris, with my best friend. Our vacation was short – just 2 days.
It took us about 4 hours reaching to the Orly Airport which was the main airport of Paris before Charles de Gaul International Airport was constructed. We stayed in Hotel 3 Des Nations. The hotel was good, clean and conveniently  located. It was really close to the metro station. There were many shops, markets, pharmacies and there was a patisserie that smelled yummy whenever i went by it so my friend and i visited very often in two days for its delicious croissants.

The transportation was really easy in this city so don’t worry. If it hadn’t been, i could have lost easily. You can use the metro to go everywhere. It was not only easy but also a quick way to transport so we just used to metro to travel the whole city. The first day of our trip, we went to the Eiffel Tower, the Champ Elysees  street and Notre Damme Cathedral. We walked around the Champ Elysees and did some shopping from the shops.
I bought key holders and earring that were in the shape of the Eiffel Tower. Then we ate pizza one the cafes which were around the Seine river with a perfect sightseeing. I highly recommend you to sit one of them and enjoy delicious foods with sightseeing. In the afternoon we went to the Eiffel Tower. I was dying to see it. It was really wonderful and fascinating. We took so many photos.

After it got dark, we joined a boat tour on the Seine river. It offered a wonderful sightseeing in the dark with many colorful lights around. I bet on that Paris looks more beautiful at nights At 7 o’clock, the Eiffel tower turned on its lights and looked really marvelous. The boat excursion was wonderful but the weather was freezing so if you plan to join a boat tour in the evening, you SHOULD take a coat! That night we came to the hotel a bit early because we were exhausted and slept comfortably in our hotel.

Next day we visited the Louvre Museum. The museum had a charming atmosphere with many world-famous paintings.
You should really see the beautiful Mona Lisa with a perfect smile from the hand of Leonarda Da Vinci. There was Louvre Pyramid in the axis of Champ Elysees in the court of the museum. It was really interesting with glamorous design. We also wanted so much to visit the Disneyland but we didn’t have time, I hope we will go the next time. The next day we went to the airport in the morning and left this amazing city sadly…
